Mirs Stars Appeal

‘OUR STARS FOR LIFE’ DAY
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13th 2009
MAKE YOUR STAR

Students of all ages all over Ireland are being asked to take part in a unique fundraising event this November in aid of the country’s cancer care units.
Friday November 13th has been designated national ‘Our Stars for Life’ day – it’s the day when children, teenagers and adults will make a star in memory of someone they loved who died of cancer. No two stars will be the same – as no two star makers are the same, and neither are the loved ones they have lost... so each star will have its own special story to tell.
A donation of €1 is to accompany each star on its journey to Kerry, where all the stars will be put on display in the beautiful fragrant floral surroundings of Ballyseedy Home & Garden Centre in Tralee from the 13th of December during the Christmas period.
The funds raised by schools or other organisations in each province will go back to the cancer care units in those provinces. The money will be used to provide some kind of comfort for families suffering the pain of watching somebody they love slip away.
After the event all STARS will be sculptured into a 4 point STAR representing our provinces and placed in the garden centre forever as a symbol to "OUR STARS FOR LIFE".

‘The Stars for Life’ project grew out of the pain and loss when my beloved sister Joan lost her life to cervical cancer 15 years ago. Joan was like a mother to me . I was were reared in an orphanage along with my 4 other sisters,Joan been the eldest.
I made a PROMISE to Joan on her death bed, as long as i have a breath in my body that one day I would do something special in her memory, and this is it.

THIS IS AN APPEAL FROM MY HEART
BUT MOST OF ALL I PROMISED JOAN.
